It looks like I've been rather passive on here for the last month.  I guess work and other things have kept me busy.  And I had been somewhat fed up with social networks in general.

Anyway a big thanks to all the favourites I have received over the last month or so.  And there will be a couple of new photos coming soon.

It's once again travel time for me.  Though this time it is for work.  I'll be catching up with the project team I work with from the 10th to the 29th July.  As I am the only one at the moment working outside the US I am the one to get to travel.  As this is for work I may or may not be posting photos here on DA.  I know I will have lots of time to process photos, but don't know whether I get much chances during the week to capture any interesting subjects.  Well you'll see once I am there.

And to make everything a bit more fun in the lead up to my travels, I'll be competing in a 50 miles (80 km) endurance ride (on horse back) on the Saturday before my departure.  So I might arrive in Pitt rather sore and stiff...

If anyone in the Pitt area would like to meet up, send me a PM.

Also on my way back on Saturday the 29th July, I will have a lay over of about 12 hours in San Francisco, anyone in that area interested in a meet up, send me a PM.

I'm once again going away for a little while.  I might be on DA lots or not at all, depending on how tired I am in the evening.

So I am off to Switzerland as of tonight and back in Oz in a bit over two weeks.  It's my dad's 80th birthday and he has invited us to celebrate with him.  We'll spend first a couple of days with my in-laws and then we had to Leukerbad where we'll stay for the most part.  It is a little ski resort in the canton Valais and hopefully we'll get to do lots of skiing

Only one other thing we have planned for the trip, we'll go on the Glacier Express on Sunday from Brig to Chur. Unfortunately the weather forecast is not the best, so there probably won't be many opportunities to take photos of the mountains.

I thought I'd start sharing the photos that I submit to the monthly judging at my photo club on here as well.

Photos at my photo club are all digital, no prints, which I really like as I don't have to worry about getting good quality prints in time for the judging.  There are 5 categories, though in reality there are only 4.  One is for newbies to the club, the Novice section, where new members can submit photos for the first 6 times or until one of the photos was awarded a gold. Than there are the section Theme, Theme modified, Open and Open modified.  Non-modified is any photo which is more or less straight out of the camera with only minor adjustments with the sliders from tools like Lightroom.  Modified is any photo which requires more than just a tweak on a slider, typically photos that would be edited with layers.  Every month has a theme, but for those who couldn't capture anything related to the Theme, there is the Open section.  Photos are awarded, Gold, Silver or Bronze.  There can be multiple photos with the same award and there may not always be a photo in every award category.  Every now and again there is none that is awarded Gold.
